SeaDream Yacht Club is upgrading its two-ship fleet with shore power connectivity, to enable zero emissions when docked in port.
“This is a significant milestone and an important step in our journey to more sustainable cruising,” said Andreas Brynestad of SeaDream Yacht Club.
SeaDream II has already been upgraded with the technology, while SeaDream I will be upgraded during a shipyard stay in April 2024.
In order to make use of the upgraded technology, ports must also have shower power connectivity. At this point in time, the vast majority of cruise ports do not. However, in Europe, the E.U. has directed all major ports to install ship-to-shore connectivity by 2025.
